The Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles will start as a mass vaccination room from Friday morning, the city’s mayor Eric Garcetti announced at a news conference on Thursday.

The website, which the mayor called the “largest vaccination site in the country”, has the capacity to vaccinate 12,000 people every day. According to Garcetti, an entire workforce was deployed to administer the vaccines.

“This vaccine is safe, this vaccine is safe,” he repeatedly stressed as he urged residents to get the vaccine as soon as it is eligible.
‘It’s your civic duty if it’s your turn to get the vaccine. It’s an act of love for your fellow citizen, because it’s going to save someone’s life or many people’s lives, and it’s a step forward in reopening our schools and our economy. ”

Who can get the vaccine: In Los Angeles County, the vaccine is currently only available to health care workers and the elderly living in parental homes and skilled nursing homes. While the province has about 1 million health workers, Garcetti said about half have not yet received the vaccine.

“The bottom line is that we do not have enough vaccines,” Garcetti said.

He also said that some sites may reserve their allocation of vaccines to administer the second dose to their health workers.

With the opening of Dodger Stadium and five additional vaccination sites out of the country, Garcetti said he expects hundreds of thousands will be vaccinated each week.

What’s going on in Los Angeles County: The province has a total of 975,299 cases of coronavirus and 13,234 deaths.

Hospitalizations in the province still dominate hospitals and health workers, and there are currently 7,906 people in hospital treated with coronavirus, of which 21% are in the intensive care unit.

According to Garcetti, although there are early signs that hospitalizations in the province could stabilize, it is not even close to the forest.
