The PlayStation 4 version of The King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match is now available via the PlayStation Store for $ 14.99 / € 14.99, publisher SNK and developer Code Mystics have announced. A physical edition will be launched this spring for $ 24.99 / € 34.90.

As the fully-tuned successor of 2009 for critics The King of Fighters 2002, The King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match includes a host of new features on PlayStation 4, including a larger list of 66 playable characters, a graphical overhaul, and redesigned capabilities. The online functionality of the game is much smoother this time thanks to the addition of a retroactive net code.
Online features
- Callback network code – The King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match features updated feedback network code that significantly reduces online delay during matches. Players can customize settings to enhance their online experiences.
- Quality of life online versus features – The King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match contains online features that allow players to study their matches and learn from their mistakes. These include the ability to review your ten most recent online matches, options that allow win / loss scores, and cooling down to play again after a quick battle.
- Two unique online modes – Choose between ‘Rank Match’, where battle results are shared and posted online, and ‘Player Match’, where fans can set their own versus battle settings. Fight to become the true king of players on the international stage! The world is yours!
Fully configured
- Impressive list of 66 playable characters – In addition to the original cast of The King of Fighters 2002, a multitude of recurring characters from previous episodes of “The Nests Chronicles”, hidden characters, and an exclusive character named “Nameless” join the tournament for the largest character roster in KOF history.
- Rearranged graphic and background music – Every demo screen, play and wish list has been completely revamped. Furthermore, the soundtrack of the game has been revised for even more intense matches.
- Numerous new and old moves added – Along with the new moves and special moves created especially for this title, many old moves return in KOF 2002 UM. On top of that, the game’s mechanics and characters’ abilities have been redesigned.
- Major upgrade of MAX Mode and MX2 – All the desperation moves in The King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match can now be canceled at any time via the “MAX Mode” system. The “MAX 2” ultimate movements are even more flashy and easier to use.
