The Kansas Senate Majority Leader has twice had legal limits in his blood, which the officer calls a ‘donut boy’

Senate Majority Leader Gene Suellentrop (R), who was arrested last month on suspicion of driving under the influence, allegedly had a blood alcohol level twice the legal limit.

According to an affidavit recently filed by Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper Austin Shepley, Suellentrop’s blood alcohol level was 0.17. The legal limit is .08, reports Lawrence Journal-World. The Kansas lawmaker apparently also called Shepley a ‘donut boy’ at one point during the incident.

The store noted that Suellentrop was transported to a local hospital after refusing to take a breath test.

“While the phlebotomist administered the blood set, while Gene Suellentrop’s behavior was slightly aggressive in his tone, he referred to the physical against me,” Shepley said. ‘He looked me up and down and said he played competitive state sports in high school. He said he could ‘take me’. ”

The Hill issued Suellentrop for comment.

The Republican state legislature was booked into Shawnee County Jail last month and charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol for fleeing or attempting to flee from a law enforcement officer, chasing a divided highway and incorrectly crossed.

According to Lawrence Journal-World, he deviated from most of his legislative duties until the case was resolved.
