Houston Methodist employees are eligible for a “Hope Bonus” in March to thank them for their work last year, Houston Methodist President and CEO Marc Boom wrote in an email to staff last week .
“Eligibility criteria will include getting a COVID-19 vaccine, and meeting our obligation as health professionals to lead the community,” Boom wrote.
Boom noted that the Covid-19 vaccine is not currently mandatory for employees, but will eventually be.
“This bonus is a thank you for your perseverance during a difficult 2020, as well as something to look forward to, to offer hope during the next few challenging months,” Boom wrote.
The hospital system began on December 15 to administer the vaccine to employees.
“About 55% of the 26,000 Houston Methodist employees received at least the first dose of Pfizer vaccine and thousands more were scheduled,” a hospital spokeswoman told CNN.
Houston Methodist employees also received a $ 500 bonus in November for thanking them for their work during the coronavirus pandemic.
