The group refused COVID vaccine at CT CVS after taking from NY

WATERFORD – Police were called to the CVS pharmacy on Boston Post Road Thursday afternoon when a group of older adults from New York were looking for coronavirus vaccinations, officials said.

The police chief said a representative of the Ledge Light Health District informed him that the group had traveled to the area after apparently planning vaccinations through the CVS app.

However, the group was turned down by local health officials because they hail from outside Connecticut, Chief Brett Mahoney said. Only residents of the country and people who work here can be vaccinated in Connecticut.

The Waterford CVS is among a small number of online appointments for COVID-19 vaccinations, according to the company’s website.

Mahoney said the group, 75 years and older, was upset but left a problem after officers were called.

“Our officers went to talk to them. “They understood, they were not happy about it, but they left,” Mahoney said.

The group traveled to Waterford on the Cross Sound Ferry, which transports people between Orient, NY and New London.
