The Cuban government announced that it would subsidize medicines for those people who could not make ends meet. drug prices, scales are being increased from the 1st of January, as part of the monetary unification process.
“If only with the increase in wages and the increase in costs, some could not pay a courtesy, will be awaited by the Via of Social Assistance”, assured the head of the Implementation Commission for Linear Works, Marino Murillo Jorge.
The subsidy of the prices of products as demanded as the antibiotics and analgesics, which should be subsidized, is a theme that preoccupies largely the population.
The salary increase, projected at 4.9 times, will be lower than the price increase that will exceed 54 per cent of the medicines.
Resolution 345 of the Ministry of Finance and Prices, published in Official Gazette number 71, reveals that pharmacists like the amoxicillin, which can cost up to 33.70 pesos, meanwhile the dipirona, which in 2018 will be 3.50 pesos, will cost now 13 more months, exactly 47.80 pesos.
In the middle of a serious and prolonged mismanagement in the pharmacy network, it is announced that the basic drug set, compiled in 2019 for 757 pharmacies, will be reduced from 2021 to 619 products.

In the past, the Government has announced that it intends to allocate 7 million pounds to subsidize medicines in 2021. The figure represents a minimum amount of 30 million million destined to cover subsidies in general in the country. Of this presupposition, more of the mitad (17,878 million) will be to subsidize the electricity tariff.
