The Google Play video app leaves Roku, Vizio, LG and Samsung TV platforms

Google discontinues the Google Play Movies and TV app for smart TVs from Samsung, LG and Vizio, as well as Roku devices. If you come on June 15, 2021, then you will no longer have access to the software on the platforms. Instead, go through YouTube to look at the content you have purchased in the past. Any Google Play credits associated with your account will still be there for you to purchase new movies and TV shows. However, your watchlist will not be transferred, and support for family sharing is more limited.

Google, but it has mostly gone unnoticed to sites like and published stories earlier today about the closure following an email the company sent to users. To be clear, Play Movies and TV itself will not be playing at Google Cemetery on June 15th. Google plans to eventually merge the app with its new one, but it’s an ongoing process with the former still available to download on Android and iOS.
