The future is here, but how safe is air charging? Motorola explains

Motorola yesterday unveiled its own technology for charging smartphones over the air, which sparked a heated debate. Many people are concerned about whether this technology is harmful to human health.

They also discuss the moment when the charger was covered by hand, after which the charging process was stopped immediately. Motorola has released an explanation of yesterday’s announcement and posted a new video showing charging continues even when objects are placed between the smartphones and the station.

Chen Jin, general manager of the China mobile phone division in China, said the charging stops when a hand or other body part appears between the devices. It is a special safety feature for the health of users.

Motorola charge: Charge multiple smartphones 1 meter away

Motorola surprised its fans by announcing its own technology to charge smartphones over the air immediately after Xiaomi introduced the new next-generation wireless charging technology, Mi Air Charge.

The company has released a short video demonstrating its wireless charging technology over the air. The company uses a small millimeter wave transmitter to provide directional charge in the 80-100 cm range. The screenshot shows how two smartphones charge at different distances from the transmitter.

The general manager of Lenovo’s China mobile phone company said that the solution offers a much greater distance than the current Qi technology, while it is possible to charge multiple smartphones simultaneously.

Apart from being really wirelessly charged over the air, which will be significantly more user-friendly, it also meets modern safety requirements. The manufacturer has shown that when a hand or other obstacle is placed between the smartphone and the transmitter, the charging is interrupted.

For comparison: Xiaomi Mi Air Charge technology enables wireless charging of various devices at a distance of a few meters.

Charge your phone remotely with Xiaomi Mi Air Charge Technology

The manufacturing industry is growing every day and technologies are coming on the market from time to time. Xiaomi has just announced a revolutionary innovation in wireless charging. The newly released Xiaomi Mi Air Charge Technology is a major attempt to transform the entire home into a wireless charger. With this technology you can charge your device wherever you are in the house. Whether you are walking, playing or sleeping, your device can charge without a sock. You also do not need cables or wireless charging points. The company announced this technology on Twitter

Xiaomi Mi Air Charge Technology

“We are delighted to offer you the charging technology remotely – Mi Air Charge Technology! Charge multiple devices at once while playing, walking around or even when something is in the way, without strings attached. Another giant leap into wireless charging technology! “

How does this technology work?

This is probably the most important question that many people will ask. The company had to design a special charging pack that comes with five-phase built-in interference antennas. These antennas will detect the location of the smartphone. To power the phone, Xiaomi also includes a phase-control kit of 144 antennas. These other antennas can then radiate waves of millimeters wide to the smartphone.

Furthermore, there is also a small antenna array with a built-in “beacon antenna” and “receive-antenna array”. While the former serves to transmit the position information of the telephone, the latter converts with 14 antennas millimeter wave signal from the charging pack into electrical energy. This is done via the rectifier circuit to complete the charging solution.

Is this technology safe?

This is another very important question that many people may ask. Well, we do not expect Xiaomi to say that it is not safe, so let’s look at its workability. For now, the Xiaomi Mi Air Charge Technology delivers only 5W. This is hardly enough to cause damage in the short term. However, we cannot see the effect of exposure to such levies in the long run.

This technology supports charging multiple devices simultaneously. Each device will charge 5W. According to the company, work more than a few meters. However, it did not provide a specific distance range. It is important to note that physical barriers do not reduce the loading efficiency. For the time being, this technology only works for smartphones.
