the Frontier returns with some content removed as contributors distance themselves from mod • Eurogamer.net

Fallout: the Frontier is one of the biggest and most anticipated Fallout: New Vegas modes ever made, but since its January 15 release, the mod has found itself in the midst of several controversies.

After some criticized the mod’s writing for ‘fetishy’ and inappropriate content, one of the developers is accused of posting ‘inappropriate content with anthropomorphic minors’, which led to the mod being removed from Nexus Mods. The mod is now back online, but not only has the work removed the rejected developer, it appears that a number of other contributors have pulled their content as well.

According to a message from the project leader tgspy, ‘voices of multiple characters’ were removed from the program after collaborators ‘requested that they no longer be associated with the project’. In addition, some artists requested that its contents be removed, while the music for the radio station ‘breach outreach’ was also removed at the request of the composer. So, while the mod may be downloadable again, you may notice some missing voice lines – something the team apparently wants to replace in the near future.

The main reason for taking the mod offline, of course, was to remove the content created by the developer that was thrown out, mainly their “icons and self-inserts”. As for the controversial lines and content previously planned for the removal, we now have a few more details: the lines about the slavery of a companion named America were removed, along with an inappropriate line from the underage girl Mae. The team apparently broadly changed and removed some pieces of questionable content, although the team did not set out exactly what had changed.

“We realize that these topics were not dealt with tactfully, but there was never a malicious intent behind the writing of the rules,” tgspy said.

Those weird lizard people you can have sex with have meanwhile been “locked” in the current models, but will be re-introduced later in an optional file. Then you really only have the blame for downloading it.

Here is one of the more infamous screenshots that have spread online.

It looks like the mod still has a future on Steam, with the promise of further updates for the Steam building “to enable a more independent start”. The mod’s Steam page is currently hidden, but the Steam version is apparently finalizing after some issues with the launcher. The head of the project had earlier said that the new upload would be the ‘final build’ of The Frontier, but with voting lines to be replaced and working on the Steam building, it looks like the team’s work is not yet complete is not.
