The first update of Pixel Buds in months is here

The last Pixel Buds update we saw appeared in September to address a bizarre bug that involves cutting out audio after specific durations. It was the latest troubleshooter for an expensive product that apparently is not on stable ground. Today there is another update that notices versions number 1, so I guess we are addressing more bugs and not much else.

The new update of Pixel Buds 2 starts (via reddit) as version 553 and should be available to everyone immediately. I was able to pull the update after not touching my Pixel Buds in a few weeks.

To check the update and get the process started, connect your Pixel Buds to your phone, open the Pixel Buds app, tap “More settings” and then “Firmware update.” Make sure you have “Automatic Updates” enabled, otherwise you will want to turn it on and off again. After that, just listen to your Buds for a while (or at least leave it out of the case) to download the update in the background.

After listening for a while (10-15 minutes) and we accept that an update is ready to install, leave your Buds back in their case and then the update will be installed. There is still no status for this process, so you have to trust it, Joel Embiid.

If we find something new or Google is posting a change log, we’ll let you know.
