The family of a boy who died in an icy Texas trailer is suing ERCOT for $ 100 million

The family of a boy from Texas who apparently froze to death – after the family’s garage lost power during a severe cold – filed a $ 100 million lawsuit against utilities in the region and blamed them for the tragedy.

Cristian Pavon Pineda, 11, was found lifeless in a bed next to his toddler brother on Monday when the inside dipped the temperature into the single digits and the family struggled to stay warm.

The power network operator ERCOT and the electricity provider Entergy did not warn people of the dangerous conditions and reportedly gave incomplete guidance to customers during the recent historic cold.

The boy’s family accuses the service providers of serious negligence.

The day Cristian died, he was playing in the snow for the first time, his mother, Maria Elisa Pineda, said.
