The education of Haitian youths and young women in the wake of a political crisis

Based on the technology of the house under construction in Puerto Príncipe, Kervens Casséus uses a cement block to be used to support his geology book.

This Haitian license for 20 years has not been issued yet in February. The political crisis that paralyzes countries impedes them and their partners normally continue their studies. Peor aún, les obliga a sumar otras preocupaciones a su escolaradad.

“Opposition and power: they are the ones who destroy the country”, is this young man, who has been studying for the last year of his bachelor of science and has not received any of his professors to continue his studies. This screen is safe from the final proofs of how much the calendar has been edited since this year.

The public education sector, while assisting Kervens, is underfunded in Haiti, has received 80% of the private school boys.

Miedo a salier

When deberia approves his oath to entertain, Kervens lives encerrado. “Tengo miedo”, admits this young man is an adult, who has lived for three years with his wife in a precarious home, and whose parents live off the capital.

“This morning I went to the main room for the first time in February. And I felt special”, described. “There are people who choose to dress in costume. The calf is different from the one he wears in. Since the 7th (February), really everything changes”, he explains.

In this case, the opposition and a part of the civil society decided not to reconvene Jovenel Moïse as the legitimate president of the country, who estimates that his term will end on February 7, 2022.

Complete sectors of Haitian society are part of this political pulse.

Open school, a political gesture?

In this context, receiving alumni in school is perpetrated by some as a political response to officialism. Consequently, from the beginning of the month, the Mayor of the school institutions of the capital is closed.

“I wish that the alumni would go to school. But he said that in Haiti he had said that some of them were politically encased,” said a teacher who, by way of reprisals, told the anonymous.

The economic inequalities that imperialism in Haiti reflects on the school system and is aggravated by this political tension.

Abandoned only with his books, Kervens has difficulties paying for a charge on his cell phone.

At a distance of two kilometers, installed in a large pink shop, little Lucie looks with attention to her master who classes online.

Sola delante of a computer, the age of 5 years is uniform, as required by the school.

“I do not believe that all Haitian fathers have the information material at home, from an internet connection and there is also the problem of electricity”, recalls his father, Jean Romuald Ernest, conscientious.

“Last week, the professor was forced to interrupt the classes just because his device did not carry much weight”, this is the father of three children, two of the volleyballs in school.

Canas a los 11 years

The doctor and his wife, on the other hand, are part of the minority with the acquisition power of a country where 60% of the population is shortened by less than two dollar dollars.

But not because of the escape to the crisis and the climate of violence that reigns in the country.

“We do not have children, we have little children”, reflects Jean Romuald.

“A child who is talking about the bank of a route and roads in llamas, a person killed, and who asks: ‘¿Papa what is it? ¿For what is it passing? is the father of the family.

“I was horrified to discover that he was 11 years old and had dogs. This is his stress level! He should be paid attention to everything,” the man signaled.

Ahead of the political upheaval and proliferation of armed pandemics that have taken place every day, the sentiment is shared by all Haitians.

Following the tragedies that afflicted women on the streets in the routes of the immigrants, Kervens told the women to come.

“We are our sisters, but we can not stop debating the crisis of the country. It is because the Mayor of the young women is going abroad”, concludes the young lady.
