The Section 2 was released on March 12, 2019, making it just over two years old this week. In that time a lot happened. Multiple updates, changes, bugs, controversies, teasers, puzzles, and more. Here’s what’s happened since The Section 2 came out.

  • Even before The Section 2 ‘With the release of 2019, it started to provoke controversy when Ubisoft tried to position the game as non-political. Yet the game was in Washington DC and would market itself using political images and messages. (And the game contains a lot political storylines and tradition.) All this has the promise that it would not be political, as’ after strange lie that Ubisoft sold to a specific group of players.
  • On March 12, 2019, The Section 2 launched on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. It contains a large map that was satisfying to explore, including museums based on real places found in DC. We first impressions of the game was positive and our review came under the impression.
  • The launch of The Division 2 was not perfect. An annoying error caused special capabilities, such as assault bumblebees, to not work consistently. It was finally pasted shortly after it appeared. Less annoying problems were also found, like a totally blocked staircase and NPCs that behave as they own by demons.
  • A few weeks after release, Ubisoft updated the game and changed a lot of things. It also added a new endgame mission.
  • As players continue to explore the world of the game, they have discovered secrets. One, in particular, seems to point to a Vikings theme Assassin’s Creed game. Of course, we know today, in 2021, that the tip was accurate as in 2020 Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was released. Other secrets were found by players, including hidden messages that needed to be encrypted. Many of these secrets were added without anyone in the studio being aware of. or how they work.
  • Players also spotted a hidden detail that was not funny or cool. A piece of artwork found in a building contains a blot. Ubisoft has apologized for the art and remove the word quickly with a plaster.

  • In May 2019, Ubisoft added two new missions to the game. It was not just focused on fighting. Instead, they had new information, new areas to explore, and some puzzle solving. It was only available to holders of the season 1 pass.
  • Later in May, The Section 2 ‘‘s first raid was added to the game. Controversial it was launched without fitting support after it was implied by Ubisoft that it would have it. It was also really hard, takes the first team to beat more than 5 hours. Console players struggled to beat it, but finally a few days after its release a few teams on Xbox and PS4 picked it up.
  • In June 2019, during E3, Ubisoft has revealed that a later expansion for the game would happen let players return to New York City, setting up the first match. Around this time, Ubisoft spoke Kotaku
and explain how they intended to fight back against the game.
  • Also in June, a strange but let players kill animals to earn special ammunition. Ubisoft patched it quickly after it was discovered.
  • In July 2019, one of the biggest updates in the history of Division 2 will be launched. It added flashes, something players asked for since the game was launched. It also added new missions and a new way to play the raid. Players can now choose an easier problem and match with others. This will reward players with less powerful and rare loot, but will give more people the chance to play the endgame activity.
  • In August we look at fucking images. This is strange. Around the time, Ubisoft challenged players to find a police car with a typing error. They found it quickly, but only after fans heard it was in the game at all. Before that, it had been hidden for months.
  • Fans found a secret boss in the game in October. It’s been there for months, like the cop car secret, but only found after Ubisoft teased it.
  • Later in October, Ubisoft updated the game and revamped the way loot and equipment worked. It became easier to search for the equipment you wanted and to change the loot you had. While not the most exciting update, it was a good step forward for the outdoor shooter.

  • In December 2019, Ubisoft added a few more tactical-themed apparel, after some fans complained most about clothes in the game was too stupid or stupid. Also that month, Ubisoft has added a gun that shoots snowballs.
  • On March 2, 2020, after a bit of a drought of new content and updates, Ubisoft released Warlords of New York City. This expansion, which was only teased in E3 2019, was massive and brought players back to NYC. It shook the way the game handles the leveling and it also changed how the endgame progression worked.
  • A few days after release, we have reviewed the new extension and was happy about most of the changes and the new world to explore. In addition to the new DLC, Ubisoft launches Season 1 of Section 2and add a battle-suit system to the game and new enemy targets to hunt over the course of a few weeks.
  • Later in March, players spent hours and hours locating all the hidden bosses in the game. It cost a bit of work, but in a weekend they will meet via Discord and solved all the mysteries and killed all the secret enemies.
  • When March turned to April 2020, the covid-19 pandemic began to take over the world. A doctor explained to Kotaku his experience in fighting the virus in New York. while playing at the same time The Section 2, a game about a deadly virus that has killed millions of people around the world.
  • In May 2020, fans created a database The Section 2 after an update and discover a series of files and audio clips that seem to spoil next year’s content. It also hinted at a new mode.
  • The second Division 2 raid was added in July 2020. The race to be the first team to complete the new activity was spoiled by accusations of fraud.
  • In September, the leaked files found in May were proved to be accurate. A new game mode has been added to the game. This new mode, Summit, gave players the task of fighting themselves on 100 floors, each filled with different enemies and challenges. In October, the mode was updated to make it a little easier for people to actually finish.
  • In December 2020, The Section 2 developers shared bad news about a planned event. Due to covid-19 the event, which would reuse an older area of the game, was canceled. Instead, some of its assets will be redeveloped into a smaller-scale clothing event. Later we learned that it was planned to have a great crossover event with Resident Evil.

  • January 2021 started with big news. The developers behind The Section 1 and 2 going to work on a Star Wars game. At the time, players were not sure what that meant. The Section 2 go forward.
  • On February 2, a new Resident Evil crossover event was launched. It included outfits and equipment based on characters from the popular Capcom horror franchise. The occasion was … meh. But the update that added to the new clothing also unlocked the frame rates on PS5 and Xbox Series X, which allowed the game to reach 60 fps.
  • In February 2021, as the fourth season of The Section 2 was packing, it felt like the game was over. But Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot announced differently during a call with investors this month, explaining that the game would get more updates. This apparently surprised Massive, who issued a statement confirming that they had initially planned to settle matters after the fourth season, but will now continue to work on the game and add more content. No specific plans were given at the time.
  • Finally, Massive outlined earlier this month some plans for how The Section 2 will continue. While the game receives a new mode and some major content updates, Massive warned that players should only expect this content in early 2021. Meanwhile, old seasons will be repeated for players who missed it. This is not the most exciting way to keep the game alive, but it’s better than nothing.

And there are things true. It’s now just over two years ago The Section 2 released. A lot has happened, with some big ups and some big downs.

Even though the popular game seems to be life-supporting, while Massive and Ubisoft focus on other things. But with the promises of more content later, it seems likely that I will start The Section 2 a few more times before it’s all over.
