The popular anime series Hataraku Maō-sama! – known in English as The Devil Is a Part-Timer! – returns eight years after the original closing for a second season.
The Devil is a part-time timer Season 2 was announced today at the Light Novel Expo of the Kadokawa Corporation. The first trailer and key art for the new season has been released, the first of which confirms the return of the original Japanese voice actor. It is said that no details about the plot or the release date are currently available, nor has it been confirmed whether the original English cast will return either (although they are certainly interested).
The series follows Demon Lord Satan, who aims to conquer the world of Ente Isla by annexing his four continents. The hero Emilia, who kills two of Satan’s demon generals, stands in his way and forces him and one of his other generals, Alciel, to flee Ente Isla. At that time, they found themselves in present-day Tokyo. To survive, a Satan named Sadao Maou gets a part-time job at a fast food restaurant called MgRonald’s – and quickly becomes a modeling employee.
The devil is part time! began life as a series of Japanese light novels written by Satoshi Wagahara and illustrated by 029, which ran from February 2011 to August 2020. A manga adaptation written by Wagahara and illustrated by Akio Hiiragi launched in 2012. It’s still going on today and has produced a number of spin-offs, including the alternate universe set The devil is part time! High school! – written by Wagahara and illustrated by Kurone Mishima – which ran from 2012 to 2015.
An anime adaptation of the The devil is part time! was produced by White Fox and directed by Naoto Hosoda. It initially aired for a single 13-episode season, with the premiere in April 2013 and a few months later in June 2013.
