The CSEED M1 is a $ 400,000 foldable MicroLED TV

For Netflix binge-watchers who may be concerned that a giant TV will overwhelm their lives room atmosphere, do not be afraid: The 165-inch C SAAD M1 is a massive folding display that disappears completely into the floor when not in use. Unfortunately I haveinstallation looks like a giant pain –and it assumes you survive the squatter shock.

Unlike companies like LG, what uses flexible OLED screen technology to deliver giant TVs that can discreetly disappear into a modest box when not in use, but C SEED uses microLEDs instead. MicroLEDs, which is widely regarded as the future of screen technology, combines the best features of current leading-edge display technologies with self-illuminated RGB pixels that require no backlight, and without the degrading organic compounds used to make OLED screens. The new screen technology is also more energy efficient, allows for slimmer screens and can produce white and black which is against the best TVs on the market.

The only downside is that microLED screens can’t fold like OLEDs can – at least not yet. To make a 165-inch TV disappear on the floor, C SEED rather designed the M1 to separate first five separate panels that fold ito each other like a giant fan. This is the other advantage of microLED display technology:t can assemble much larger TVs from smaller panels, while all the seams are perfectly hidden, the final result thus looks like one giant exhibition.

We all saw Jumbotron screens are crossed with black lines where smaller panels are not completely perfect, but C SEED promises that this is no problem with the M1, thanks to a feature called Adaptive Gap Calibration which observes when panels are slightly oblique and automatically adjusts the brightness of edge pixels to hide shadows that create those unsightly seam lines.

The C SEED M1, available in gold, black or titanium finishes, can be had for $ 400,000, but it does not include the renovations needed to get a room ready for installation. If you want the full effect of a giant TV screen disappearing into your floor, you will need to find a contractor to ensure that this is even possible for a room – and then there is the room below to consider if you live in a house with several floors. If you live in an apartment or apartment in a tower, you should rather decide with other installation options, which puts a giant box on the floor where the M1 can crash into, or matching decorative furniture to hide it inside.

It sounds like a lot of work just to disguise a TV, but wthe C SEED M1 advances, rises slowly from the floor and then unfolds as the solar panels of a satellite that has just orbited are enchanting. It almost makes you have to wait a few minutes before you can really watch TV, does not look as uncomfortable as it really is. There’s half the fun with the M1.
