According to a Washington Post report, the CEO of a plan to increase production of 15 million Johnson & Johnson coronavirus vaccine doses has increased 51 percent.
Robert Kramer, CEO of Biosolutions, received $ 5.6 million in 2020, according to public documentation that the Post rated Friday.
According to the Post, executive management has a salary of $ 893,000, $ 1.4 million from stock options, $ 2.1 million from shares and a $ 1.2 million bonus.
According to the documentation, the company increased Kramer’s salary after the company’s manufacturing business expanded and the CEO responded to the pandemic.
The company also reported a 41 percent increase in revenue in 2020. Kramer rose to CEO of the company in 2019 and has been with the company since 2012, according to the newspaper.
Emergent saw the increase in growth last year, mainly due to a federal contract that the newspaper said gave $ 628 million to the company to fight the coronavirus pandemic.
However, the Post noted that the bonuses before the the company in Maryland infected 15 million infected doses of Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
At the end of March, the issues surrounding vaccine production at the Emergent plant became known after the Johnson & Johnson vaccine became contaminated with ingredients of the AstraZeneca vaccine, according to the Post.
AstraZeneca materials have been completely removed from the facility and Johnson & Johnson is overseeing the plant.
The White House warned Friday that states will receive a significantly lower amount of Johnson & Johnson vaccine in the coming weeks as a result of the crash.
The New York Times reported earlier this week that there is a high risk of cross-contamination found last year in the audits of the facility. It was also reported that the staff was undertrained.
