Wearing a mask is one of the easiest things individuals can do to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is working with WarnerMedia in the hope that characters like Harry Potter, Wonder Woman, the Joker, and Imperator Furiosa can convince people to disguise.
The ad, created by a partnership between WarnerMedia, the Ad Council and the CDC, features a wide variety of WarnerMedia characters from iconic movies – but with digitally inserted masks.

Whether it’s heroes (like members of the Fellowship of the Ring or the Justice League) or villains (like the Joker doing his iconic stair dance), everyone hides them. Even the murderous clown devil Pennywise out It sports a mask – though, a creepy, clown face.
According to AdAge, the ad will appear in donated media time across the US, and it’s free for broadcasts and digital news. Of course, WarnerMedia will manage the ad on its own channels and platforms, including the HBO and Turner TV channels.
Recently released clues from the CDC actually recommend doubling masks, with a cloth mask worn over a surgical machine for better protection. Alternatively, the agency advocates that people tie the ruffles on their surgical masks so that they fit well.
“Let’s go back to doing our favorite things,” the ad reads, “whatever it may be.”
