The cat in the “soul” is fine, that’s what happened there

If you have experienced the joy of watching Soul recently I do not have to tell you how wonderful the movie is.

Side note: Spoil before!

Pixar’s latest animated feature follows the exciting journey of friends Joe Gardner and 22 through life and death, but there was one little star that made fans extra worried …

For a quick refreshment, he accidentally ends up in the body of mr. Mittens, a therapy cat, when Joe manages to get back to earth. However, it bumps Mr Mittens’ soul out of his own body and on an unexpected journey to the great opposite.

And, suffice it to say, fans were like, “Oh no!”

Believe it or not, it was not just viewers who were concerned about Mr Mittens’ soul. The film’s director, Pete Docter, revealed that the filmmakers themselves were also involved in the cat’s story:

One of our most stubborn notes while making the movie: “but what about the cat’s soul?” #PixarSoul

Now the cat is returned to its own body, although the film does not explain how.

And it left me (and I assume everyone else) like, “YAY, BUT HOW ?!”

Well, Soul writer and co-director Kemp Powers calmed the question down with a simple answer in a tweet: The cat had 9 lives!

The cat had 9 lives to answer your question about how he came back. We actually went on board a whole series that showed how Mr. Mittens got back to his body. We considered playing it over the final credits, but it was a little too silly. #PixarSoul

Powers also explained that there was a whole series that they thought of animating for the final credits, but that it ” shows a little too silly. ‘

IDK, if we are lucky one day, we can see it as an animated Pixar card. I would love to see it! What about you ?!
