The breathtaking iPhone FOLD concept transforms from a regular smartphone into an iPad Mini

The internet is filled with rumors that Apple has been working on a foldable iPhone, and patents even show that Apple has experimented with different layouts … but if I learned anything about Apple, they only debut products that fit perfectly into their ecosystem fit, and they spend years on product development in the pursuit of perfection; though it can sometimes mean that competitors beat them. With that said, Svyatoslav Alexandrov’s iPhone Fold concept makes a fascinating case for a folding smartphone. Here’s why.

From a strict ecosystem perspective, the iPhone Fold helps Apple develop one product that fits into two categories – the hugely popular smartphone category and the kind of dead mini-tablet category. With the iPhone fold, Apple can easily stop the iPad Mini and focus on the higher, pro-grade tablet devices. The fold-out phone then absorbs the features of the iPad Mini, giving you a device that is literally the best of both worlds.

The iPhone Fold concept, designed by Svyatoslav Alexandrov (for the YouTube channel ConceptsiPhone), is available in the well-known Galaxy Fold format, with a primary 6.3-inch screen on the outside and a larger, 8- thumb-fold screen on the inside. It allows FaceID for the reliable TouchID and turns the entire primary screen into a fingerprint sensor – so you can unlock your phone by swiping. The lack of FaceID means a significantly smaller notch with only one front camera for selfies. However, the back comes with the iPhone 12 Pro’s entire camera setup, with wide, ultra-wide and tele-lenses, along with a flash and a LiDAR scanner. Open the iPhone and turn it into a square iPad Mini designed to be perfectly portable. Although the concept does not say much about whether this device supports the Apple Pencil, I think I do, and the designer Svyatoslav Alexandrov mentions that the concept is MagSafe capability and 5G ready, which makes it a pretty good iPad. make. replacement, all things considered.

Several sources say that Apple is already working on a folding phone and patents show that the company is investigating hinge details and even folding batteries. However, until folders are really a smartphone category that is here to stay, I suspect Apple’s experiments will never really see the light of day. However, it’s nice to speculate how a foldable iPhone can fit well into Apple’s ecosystem by reviving one product line (the iPhone) and pulling off another one (the iPad Mini)!
