The body that was found in the Mississippi River near the reserve yesterday is unfortunately that of Kori Gauthier, her uncle said in a message on social media.
Spencer Gauthier thanks everyone for their prayers and wishes, but says that “unfortunately it was confirmed that my cousin’s body was found in the river near the reserve.”

Gauthier has been missing since early Wednesday, April 7, 2021 when her car was found abandoned on the Mississippi Bridge after another motorist crashed into it. The first-year student of the LSU was not in her vehicle, but her family says her wallet and phone were still inside.
Since then, numerous searches have been conducted in the waters and terrain around the Mississippi River. Several guards were kept for Kori while the crew continued the searches.
The LSU police say they have concluded that there were no criminal activities or foul play involved. They shared evidence with Gauthier’s family, but did not disclose their findings. They demand that the public respect the privacy of the family.
