The blockade of the situation in Royal Oak ends, the 34-year-old suspected shooter shot by the police

ROYAL OAK, Mich. A barricaded armed situation in Royal Oak ended on Saturday night when the suspected armed man was shot by the police and rushed to a hospital.

According to authorities, police responded to a domestic dispute between a father and his adult son in a home in the 2700 block of Oliver Road around 2 p.m. Police said the 34-year-old boy was intoxicated and assaulted his father. who called 911.

Neighbors said the man was ex-military and presumably suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder when he assaulted his father.

Police added that he was heavily armed and wore armor and barricaded himself in the Royal Oak residence.

Police said they made telephone contact with the boy and repeatedly tried to persuade him to surrender peacefully. Police said they could hear shots coming from inside the house and the suspect threatened to shoot officers.

Police set up a perimeter and appealed to Galpin and Glenview and Oliver and Glenwood roads to hide in its place, stay away from windows and, if possible, cover in basements.

Police said around 4 p.m., the Oakland County SWAT team arrived, took over the situation and continued to negotiate with the man inside.

After about two and a half hours of no contact, police said they used a SWAT robot and drone to break through the door and search the house.

Authorities said communication with the alleged gunman was restored after the drone was eliminated.

‘There was a lady with the police who spoke to Jason. She said, ‘Jason, come out with your hands up,’ said neighbor Ted Boiteau.

“That’s how it sounded,” Carol Boiteau said.

“She was trying to talk him out of it,” Ted Boiteau said. “It went on for a while and while she was talking, we heard a gunshot.”

“And then everything was quiet,” Carol Boiteau said.

The gun came from the police at 20:28

According to authorities, the suspected gunman emerged from the house around 8:30 p.m., aimed a gun at law enforcement officers and a member of the SWAT team shot him.

Police said delegates and the Royal Oak Fire Department assisted the man and that he was rushed to Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak.

By 10 p.m., the suspected shooter was still alive in the hospital. His parents are expected to be right.
