The biggest winners, losers of Jets’ earlier signing

Cole’s signing does not necessarily indicate that Jamison Crowder is on his way out the door. Cole has the ability to stand up outside while Crowder stays in the lock, meaning the two can coexist in the New York offense.

With that said, Crowder’s future with Gang Green now looks bleak than at the beginning of the free agency. The option to cut Crowder and sign JuJu Smith-Schuster is now off the table, but there’s still a chance Douglas prefers to pick a receiver early in the 2021 draft. Such a move indicates a desire to get younger in the position, and to have Crowder viewed on the outside as a potential casualty.

Crowder has been the Jets’ most consistent wide receiver over the past two seasons and would add a lot of value to the New York attack in 2021. The closet is a little more crowded now that Cole is on board, and it could fill up further. to the point where Crowder is finally shown the door.
