The release of iOS 14.4 last month had features such as the camera recognizing smaller QR codes that were neat but not life-changing.
However, Apple’s upcoming iOS 14.5 update is becoming one of the most important version updates in recent times. The company will roll it out at end of this month, but let’s take a look at some exciting features that people have already noticed in the beta version.
Face ID will work with masks
Do you not jump for joy at the thought of this? If not, you need to do it. With Apple, you can unlock your phone with Face ID, even while wearing a mask, but you need an Apple Watch for that. Once this update is known, you need to enable this feature manually from the settings. It is absolutely worth doing this if you have to spend a lot of time outside and wear a mask all the time.

Choose a default music service for Siri
If you are currently asking Siri to play a song, Apple Music will open by default. If you want to play a track on another streaming service, you must specify it in the request: ‘Hello Siri, play’ Do Not Start Now ‘on Spotify. However, this may change with iOS 14.5 and you will be able to choose a different streaming app as the default for Siri-powered music requests.

Advanced ad tracking protection
You will not see this feature as the Face ID in action, but it will protect your privacy at all times. With this update, applications must request permission before it can be unique Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) allows you to track and display your ads based on that data. You can see all the programs that you detect under Settings and make changes if you want. Earlier this month, the company also released a white paper explaining how app tracking works.

Apart from this, users on Reddit have noticed that Apple will set up a link called ‘Privacy Preserving Ad Measurement’, which can probably make you work anonymously with ads.

Apple Maps crash reporting
Apple will also launch the crash app in the Maps app through a large number of crashes. A screenshot of the beta version of the software indicates that you may report an accident, a hazard, or a stun gun at a particular location. If you do not have time to stop, you can also use Siri to report an incident.

Horizontal iPad Home Screen
Apple is finally bringing a horizontal boot screen to the iPad. Currently, if your iPad is connected to the magic keyboard in landscape mode, it wakes up with a vertical boot screen. So you have to adjust the orientation for the first time and it is annoying. Fortunately, Apple is fixing this with the upcoming update.

Redirecting Google’s Safe Browsing Traffic through Safari for Anonymity
Minimal ad tracking is not the only feature in the iOS 14.5 update. Apple also diverts Google’s Safe Browsing traffic by its own servers – for sites on the safe browsing list – to keep your identity hidden. Safe Browsing provides readers with a list of harmful sites that can be avoided while using the Internet.
