Apple’s new AirPods Max is officially here and as with most Apple products, the accessories are expanding rapidly. If you are an AirPods Max user who wants to upgrade the experience, here are some accessories you may find useful.
The headphones stand and mount
My personal favorite way to store headphones when not in use is with a headphone mount under the table. Like many others, I use Elevation Lab’s “The Anchor” headphone mount under the table. It is affordable and incredibly simple to install, with a custom 3M adhesive as opposed to clamps or boreholes.
Another option is the Anchor Pro, which features a more industrial design coupled with built-in cord management. For long-term use, this may be a better option, as the AirPods Max is on the heavier side of the headphone category.
It is difficult these days to find a solid headphone stand that is not covered with RGB lights and that is designed for gamers. That said, one of the most popular and elegant options comes from JOKItech. This headphone stand has an aluminum finish with a walnut headrest at the top to store your headphones when not in use.
If you are looking for something as simple as possible, the work of $ 10 will also be done properly.
Because of the way the Smart Case exposes the mesh headband, it is of course possible to place the AirPods Max in a Smart Case on a headphone standard or under the table. On the other hand, now that we know that the AirPods Max Smart Case does not actually have as big an impact on battery life as was initially thought, you can also drop the case completely.
A new Kickstarter also claims to offer a “Max Stand” for the AirPods Max, including the ability to charge it wirelessly. We’re always wary of Kickstarters, but this is one to watch.
AirFly and AirFly Pro
AirFly is a unique accessory from people in Twelve South, best known for their unique range of iPhone, iPad and Mac accessories. The purpose of AirFly is to enable you to use Bluetooth headphones, such as AirPods Max, with wired headphone jacks – such as in airplanes, cars, and exercise equipment.
If you plan to use AirPods Max in the above environments, AirFly is an essential accessory. If you want to be able to pair two pairs of headphones at the same time, you also need to visit the AirFly Pro accessory. The AirFly Pro also adds support to turn any AUX-in port into a wireless audio receiver.

Lightning up to 3.5 mm adapter
Finally, one accessory I hate to even mention because it has to be included in the packaging: Apple’s Lightning to 3.5mm audio cable. At $ 35 it’s too expensive but necessary if you want to use your AirPods Max through wired connection.
This bidirectional cable can be used with both 3.5mm audio-out and audio-in ports, allowing you to connect your AirPods Max or Beats Solo Pro headphones to 3.5mm audio sources, or your iOS or iPadOS device can connect to speakers with 3.5 mm audio ports.
Note that it currently appears that many third-party lightning to 3.5mm headphone cables do not work with AirPods Max. Therefore, you should opt for Apple’s own cable to ensure compatibility.
WaterField AirPods Max Shield Case
The AirPods Max Smart Case probably got more attention than the headphones themselves due to the controversial design. For this reason, we expect cases to be one of the most popular categories of AirPods Max accessories.
