ASUS is quite tight on the release date and prices of its new Chromebook removable CM3 tablet. While we may have to wait a little longer to hear it from a horse’s mouth, a few birds told us that the highly anticipated competitor to Lenovo’s Chromebook Duet would be coming to Costco’s shelves in the relatively near future. No hard date has been shared, but we do know that the wholesale club will get a large number of ASUS CM3s, and it could possibly be next week.
What we know
When ASUS launched the landing page for its new removable MediaTek drive, two variations were listed. Like the Lenovo Duet, you can choose between 64 GB or 128 GB, and these are just two RAM options. Before you get too excited, both of these options are 4 GB, but one is LDDR4, while the other is the less powerful LDDR4X with higher clock speeds. Which one comes with each storage configuration is still a mystery. It can simply be a matter of what RAM is available during manufacture. Either way, you probably will not see a difference between the two.

As I mentioned, ASUS has not yet officially announced a price for the CM3, but thanks to our anonymous tip, we know that the 64GB model will be on sale for $ 369.99 at Costco. As long as this particular model comes with the versatile standard cover, keyboard and stylus, it’s in the price range we’ve expected for the ASUS. Performance should not be different from the Lenovo Duet (maybe a slight advantage if you get the LDDR4X RAM), but you do get a slightly larger screen at 10.5 ″ and a guaranteed, rechargeable USI stylus. Our fingers are crossed that ASUS will not price the 128 GB model without a doubt. If sold for $ 399 and sold occasionally, it could be a serious thorn in the side of Lenovo’s Chromebook Duet, which regularly goes on sale for $ 249.
We’ll keep a close eye on Costco.com to let you know when the ASUS CM3 arrives. If you are in Canada, PC Canada can also list for ASUS. It is currently listed as ‘backordered’, but you can continue to place your order and get in line to get it.
