The first Android 12 developer preview may land soon if there is a recent update of the app. The Android Beta Feedback app, which has been bundled with the Android preview and beta versions since Android 10 Q, has just received an update in the Play Store. With last year’s Beta app long overdue, there’s probably only one reason why Google will need an update for the app: Android 12 is coming soon.
You do not have to be a Nostradamus to make this particular prediction; just look at a calendar. Android developer previews usually land around this time. This happened earlier in March, but last year Google moved things to February, and this is a trend that may continue, based on today’s evidence. Either way, a release is expected in the next 4-6 weeks.
The Android Beta Feedback app is intended to enable quick access to the Android bug tracker, allowing developers and testers to submit bug reports for both apps and Android themselves, star and track specific issues, and provide only general feedback during the months long testing process. . This is along with previous previews and betas going back to Android 10 Q, and you are usually asked to uninstall it when you start it when the test program ends, but some people keep it installed anyway.
The new version was first noticed by the people on 9to5Google, with the Android Beta Feedback app updated from v2.11 to V2.15-betterbug.external_20201211_RC02. You can download the same version as you like via our sister site APK Mirror, but there is not much to see, although there are some curious details, such as the fact that it can be installed on older versions of Android.
The app itself does not actually work when you turn on this new version, it simply asks you to uninstall it. Nothing in it explicitly or directly states that this version of the app is linked to Android 12, but the purpose and timing of the app is beyond suspicion.
Chances are that there will be a release within the next few weeks. Remember that developer previews usually end up on a Wednesday, so mark the 10th, 17th and 24th on your calendars, then let us know when it hits.
