The AMD Ryzen Powered Aya Neo Handheld Computer is very popular

At the beginning of last year, the Alienware Concept UFO teased us with the possibility of a real computer by hand, but with ‘no planning to announce it as a formal product’ from 2021 we are sitting on the best playground. hunched over our mouse and keyboard. Fortunately, there is light at the end of the tunnel, as the Ryzen-powered Aya Neo looks like the mantle, and it seems to be very popular already.

Aya, the Chinese start-up company behind the device, crushed its crowdfunding target within the first few hours of the Neo survey on Indiegogo and is currently more than 2,536% above the initial target. The 512 GB SSD model was sold out in less than 24 hours and is not replenished, but Aya still issued a thousand 1 TB units to meet the demand.

Although the Aya Neo looks like a Nintendo Switch by design, it’s a bit more of a power station packing a 7nm AMD Ryzen 5 4500U processor, Radeon Vega 6 GPU and 16GB of RAM – four times that of the console. It even has a slightly larger 7-inch touchscreen with 800p resolution and uses Windows 10, so there are no troublesome compatibility issues.

Like its inspiration, there is an optional docking station that you can add to your level, but this is portable enough to take with you and has enough ports to connect the best gaming mouse and the best gaming keyboard – which is handy, since you can not slide the Aya Neo controllers down.

With the current configuration, the frame rate is expected to be between 30 fps and 60 fps on most titles, including Cyberpunk 2077 according to Aya’s tests. You should check the system requirements of newer games to see if the Neo fits the bill, but the company has confirmed that it will increase optimizations that can help increase fps as more titles are released.

Aya originally withdrew its crowdfunding campaign due to stock shortages plaguing the best graphics cards and best game CPUs, but thinks now is the time to get things started. There is no idea how the big question will play out whether the Neo will see on store shelves in the future, but for now, all fans are expected to receive the product this year.

Before spending $ 6,750 HKD (about $ 869 / £ 628) on supporting the Aya Neo, remember that it is a crowdfunding campaign and every ten successful funded products do not reach the market. These are investments in product concepts and not a promise of a physical product at the end of it. That said, Aya has already tested its proof of concept and is actively selling Neo in China, giving us confidence that the handheld computer is the right thing to do.
