Aya, the Chinese start-up company behind the device, crushed its crowdfunding target within the first few hours of the Neo survey on Indiegogo and is currently more than 2,536% above the initial target. The 512 GB SSD model was sold out in less than 24 hours and is not replenished, but Aya still issued a thousand 1 TB units to meet the demand.
Although the Aya Neo looks like a Nintendo Switch by design, it’s a bit more of a power station packing a 7nm AMD Ryzen 5 4500U processor, Radeon Vega 6 GPU and 16GB of RAM – four times that of the console. It even has a slightly larger 7-inch touchscreen with 800p resolution and uses Windows 10, so there are no troublesome compatibility issues.
Like its inspiration, there is an optional docking station that you can add to your level, but this is portable enough to take with you and has enough ports to connect the best gaming mouse and the best gaming keyboard – which is handy, since you can not slide the Aya Neo controllers down.
With the current configuration, the frame rate is expected to be between 30 fps and 60 fps on most titles, including Cyberpunk 2077 according to Aya’s tests. You should check the system requirements of newer games to see if the Neo fits the bill, but the company has confirmed that it will increase optimizations that can help increase fps as more titles are released.
