The Mach 1 is back for 2021 and replaces the Bullitt in the Mustang series. The Mach 1 sits above the EcoBoost and GT models, but below the Shelbys. Here are the details on prices and options.

The Mach 1 is only available as a quick return – from this model it is not from above. (Ford and Dodge do not offer convertible versions of their most powerful models.) The Mach 1 is in two finishes; the base car starts at $ 52,720. It gives you goodies like Recaro sports seats, a chassis number plate on the chassis and the handling package, which includes adjustable springs, a spoiler and 19-inch wheels.

The Mach 1 Premium is the next step. It starts at $ 54,315. The extra $ 1,595 offers things like heated and cooled seats and a heated steering wheel.

There are seven exterior colors: Racing Red, Velocity Blue, Twister Orange, Iconic Silver, Grabber Yellow, Oxford White and Shadow Black. Four stripe options complete the exterior color: two adhesive tapes and two races. Twister Orange is the only color that costs $ 495 extra. Each stripe is available with each exterior color. Unfortunately, if you do not care what the stripes look like, they can not be removed.

The Mach 1 is powered by the 5.0 liter V8 which puts out 480 horses. You can choose a standard six-speed manual gearbox with custom adjustment or an optional $ 1,595-speed automatic. There are not many options to choose from because this thing is loading. The Mach 1 includes the performance package along with the active exhaust and MagnaRide damping system. You can choose $ 394 19-inch wheels and $ 495 red brake calipers. This includes the outside options.

Inside, it’s the same story. It’s loaded, with the only options for the interior: a $ 595 navel system I would skip and the excellent $ 1,520 Recaro sports seats. However, remember that if you choose this, you will lose your power adjustment. All in all, a fully charged Mach 1 with each option (10-speed car, $ 495 Orange Paint, etc.) costs $ 59,085. This is just the base car, mind you. I save my $ 4,280 and get no options.

The Mach 1 Premium is more or less the same with a few key option differences that set it apart. For one, the Premium gets another color choice, Fighter Jet Gray. It is a kind of light blue-gray that is now popular on so many models. This color is part of a larger $ 1,000 Mach 1 occurrence package to choose from when choosing this color. The Premium also gets an extra stripe option of black with orange accents. There’s an improved $ 395 security package that costs Ford nearly $ 400 for wheel locks. Then there is the $ 1,295 Mach 1 Elite package. It offers you a B&O audio system with 12 speakers with a CD player (!) And contains the above security package.

The differences within the Premium amount to optional Recaro seats of $ 1,595 and an environmental lighting system that the Recaros needs. Note, however, that you cannot get seat heating and cooling with the Recaros. All in all, you look at almost $ 63,000 for a Mach 1.

These are a lot of coins for what a tart-up GT is. If the Shelby GT350 was still there, it would be the best buy. It started at $ 60,440. But if you’re looking for a pony car that’s more than a GT but not as crazy as a Shelby, the Mach 1 is it.
