The 20 Biggest Announcements of Today’s Nintendo Direct

For the first time in over a year, Nintendo has offered a full-fledged live offering. The latest offering was mostly focused on games that would hit Nintendo’s hybrid gaming console, the Switch, somewhere in the first half of 2021, although there were some announcements for games that would appear later.

The nearly hour-long event featured a string of titles that the Switch would reach before the year was halfway through, including ports for indie games like Val guys and Outer Wilds and new installments in franchises such as No more heroes and Splatoon. Here are the biggest news announcements and trailers from Nintendo Direct today.

Splatoon 3 hits Nintendo Switch in 2022

The third installment in the Splatoon Franchise is expected to start in 2022. Not much is known about the game except for a new desert land, but the game seems to feature the same paint-shooting action as previous entries.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD cuts to Nintendo Switch on July 16

Nintendo announced The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD, a reissue of the Wii U exclusive 2011. The game will launch with a new pair Zelda-theme Joy-Cons. Nintendo also said they have more information on the sequel on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild later this year.

Mario Golf Super Rush is the latest installment in the Mario Golf series and it arrives on June 25

Mario Golf Super Rush is the first Mario Golf title for Nintendo’s hybrid console. The game features motion control, new modes and a story campaign.

Various MarioItems and furniture can be purchased via the Nook Shop in Animal crossing: new horizons begins March 1st. Nintendo has also confirmed that a free update will take place on February 25th.

Fall Guys Ultimate Knockout is transferred to Nintendo Switch

Mediatonic’s goofy platform battle title Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout will receive a Nintendo Switch port. No release date has been announced, but the game is aimed at a summer launch window.

Pyra and Mythra from Xenoblade Chronicles join the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Series

Both characters will be playable from March, but Nintendo promises to share more details closer to the release. The pair count as a single character, both making the fourth DLC character available in the second Fighters Pass for Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity gets an expansion card

The expansion card contains two “waves” of content, with the first one starting in June and the other one in November. It costs $ 20 and pre-orders are now available.

Indie darling Outer Wilds comes to Switch

According to Nintendo, the 2019 action-adventure game from Mobius Digital will arrive on the Switch sometime this summer.

Famicom Detective Club arrives in North America on May 14

Two old murder mystery games are being remade for the Nintendo Switch and will be located in English. The two detective games were originally released on the Famicom disk system in the late 80’s, and play players to solve puzzles. Both games receive modern graphics, gameplay and voice acting, but retain the same puzzles as found in the original versions.

No More Heroes 3 launches on August 27

The third title in the No More Heroes Trilogy will arrive exclusively on the Nintendo Switch at the end of August.

Monster Hunter Rise begins March 26

The latest trailer for Monster Hunter Rise focus on new story details and the monsters you encounter in the game. A Monster HunterNintendo Switch will also be released the same day as the console.

Stubbs the Zombie gets a remaster for modern consoles

Stobbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse is a third-person action game where players take control of a zombie and devour brains and wreak havoc in a city. Asypr Media, which previously had a remaster Star Wars Episode 1: Racer modern consoles, developed the game.

Neon White is a first person action platform developed by the creator of Donut County

Donut county creator Ben Esposito is working on a new project. Neon White will give players task to kill demons in heaven. Based on the art style and first trailer, the new game is far from Esposito’s previous work.

Plants vs. Zombies: Battle For Neighborville Complete Edition begins March 19 on Switch

Originally released in 2019 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One, Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville Complete Edition is a third person shooter and contains all the characters and content of previous versions of the game.

Project Triangle Strategy is a brand new tactical RPG from Square Enix

The game has a similar art design as the RPG for 2019 Cruiser. Not much of the game is known yet, but according to today’s live, the game will be launched in 2022.

Star Wars Hunters is a competitive free online shooter from the Farmville producers

Zynga, the studio best known for developing games such as FarmVille and Words with friends, make a new Star Wars shooter. The game will be based on the group and between the events of Star Wars Episode VI and Episode VII.

Knockout City is a new online based dodgeball game from the creators of Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit

Knockout City is the latest project from Velan Studios, the same developer who worked on the mixed-reality racer Mario Kart Live: Home. The game will appear on May 21 on Switch and other platforms.

World’s End Club appears on Nintendo Switch on May 28

From the creators of Danganropa and Zero Escape, World End’s Club is currently being developed by Too Kyo Games in partnership with Grounding Inc. The first part of the game was released earlier on Apple Arcade.

Hades gets a physical release on March 19

One of 2020’s most popular games will receive a physical release on the Nintendo Switch on March 19th. In addition to a pattern, a physical copy also contains a book containing game art and a download code of the soundtrack.

Ninja Gaiden Master Collection is a new version of Team Ninja’s most notable titles

The package will include Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, en Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge. It launches on June 10 on the Nintendo Switch and contains all downloadable content previously released for these games, without the extra launch.
