The 2 Venezuelan pandemics follow the Venezuelan Observatory of Violence

According to the figures released by the Ministry of Communications and Information, 1,018 people failed due to attributable causes on March 19.

The director of the OVV attributes the reduction of violent deaths to the quarantine and the migration of popular sectors in the country. It is clear that January and May will see the most violent months, and that in March, in the midst of the quarantine meetings, the mayor will take part in the permanent negotiations that will take place in the mayoralty.

Briceño León points out that the most violent months of his life took place, as a consequence of delinquency, and may be due to “resistance to authority”.

Since the year 2016, the OVV has been meeting a sustained increase in police lethality in relation to the provocative deaths attributed to the action of the delinquency.

As a result of this trend, the numbers of violent deaths have decreased since 2017, following the annual reports of the organization.

Detail that the death toll registered this year is 4,153 homicides, 4,231; resistance to the authority and 3,507 deaths have been averted. 91% of homicide victims are men, 68% are between 18 and 40 years old, 99% are Venezuelans and 14% of homicides are registered with white men.

The information from the OVV studies the violence in 15 of the 23 states of the country with investigators from public or private universities.

In the past, President Nicolás Maduro’s governor has confirmed that he has initiated disciplinary proceedings against civil servants accused of violating human rights. The governor signaled that security controls in the national territory would be strengthened.
