Thank you, Persona 5 Strikers, for this non-sucking adult

Oh woe! What a look Mr. Hasegawa.

Persona 5 Strikers has been out for a little over a week, so I feel pretty comfortable saying it:

Thank the Lord for Wolf!

Wolf (born Zenkichi Hasegawa) is the newest and only adult member of the Phantom Thieves. There are adults who help the Phantom Thieves and keep their secret, but up to Stakers, there has never been an adult character user.

And I love him. Very.

I was worried about him when he started killing the Phantom Thieves. Although there are good people like Cafe Leblanc, owner Sojiro or Dr. Takemi, is, adults have always been the inhabitants of the land. Person 5 series. When a new, no less a policeman, started hanging around Stakers, I thought he was going to be in trouble. Fantastic, another character to hold on to just for the writers to make him bad. It is Dr Maruki from the beginning.

She’s right, of course, but it’s funny about the mega-rich privileged child.

But despite a few scenes where it seems painfully clear, Mr. Hasegawa die Stakers gang for his own benefit, he turns out to be one of the good guys. Aided by the spectacular voice talents of Tom Taylorson, Mr. Hasegawa a bumpy charm over him. He is not too serious like most adults of the thieves. When dealing with his young criminals, he takes their jokes about his age or discomfort. Finally a character user for adults!

The Person 5 series offers the ultimate power fantasy: How much better can life be if the shit people just realize they shit and stop? In Person 5 and Royal, this conflict has been presented as adults versus children. The adults get carte blanche for being shit, and the only people who realize or care are helpless teenagers. As a result, the Phantom Thieves are rightly distrustful of them – adults are presumably the power to get right into holes, but they do not. When Kamoshida abused children in Person 5, none of the administrators stepped in, not even in the face of overwhelming evidence. It shortened the idea that adults or they have no idea.

Hasegawa introduces the much-needed gray into the black-and-white conceptions of the Phantom Thieves of justice.

But Wolf’s presence in the team adds nuances. He helps the Phantom Thieves to understand that even all powerful adults can suffer under the yoke of oppression and manipulation, and that it is better to work together than to fight. When his own daughter turned against him for not arresting her killer, Hasegawa revealed that he had endangered his sense of justice to keep her safe. Then, after awakening his personality by working closely with the Phantom Thieves, he can bring the killer of his wife – who also happens to be responsible for all heart changes – to justice. Collaboration between adults and children saved the day.

Man also looks good on Wolf when he fights.

O! Hi Zaddy.

The cowboy getup? Do you throw the pistols? Swing the fuck-off big sword? Calling himself “Wolf” ?? Whew! He is hot, not in the smoldering sexy way, but the dad, who crumbles in bed, charming. And he has massive DBE-pa bod energy. Mr. Hasegawa is basically a Japanese version of Jim Hopper from Stranger things. And thank you God he’s mature, so I do not feel bad for saying Wolf’s hot. Thank you Stakers, to finally make me desire guilt-free.
