Texas Road, based in Texas, confirms founder Kent Taylor’s CEO

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Texas Roadhouse, Inc., a restaurant chain in Louisville, announced Thursday that founder and CEO Kent Taylor has passed away.

Taylor, a Louisville-born student and graduate of Ballard High School, founded Texas Roadhouse in 1993. He has held various positions throughout the company, including the chairman of the board and the CEO, according to a news release.

Early last year, Taylor has agreed to give up his salary from March to January 2021, with the funds that will help employees in the front restaurant during the pandemic.

‘We are very saddened by the loss of Kent Taylor. He founded Texas Roadhouse and devoted himself to building it into a legendary experience for ‘Roadies’ and restaurant guests. During the pandemic, he gave up his entire compensation package to support his front-line workers, “said Greg Moore, chief executive officer of the Texas Roadhouse Board of Directors. ‘This selfless act came as no surprise to anyone who knew Kent and his strong faith in serving leadership. He was without a doubt a people-first leader. His entrepreneurial spirit will live on in the business he has built, the projects he supports and the lives he has touched. ”
