A Texas police chief reportedly resigned after being arrested and then placed on administrative leave amid accusations on social media about his alleged double personal life.
“Police Chief Jason Collier immediately resigned his position at City of Stinnett,” Durk Downs, the city manager, posted on the city’s Facebook page Thursday night. “The City has accepted his resignation. According to city policy, we will not comment on his personal affairs.”
Tuesday the ao. Cindy Barkley and the Texas Department of Public Safety addressed the issue in a statement to local media.
“Collier allegedly sent a text message to the victim with a fraudulent government report. The document was a fraudulent annulment,” Barkley told KAMR-TV of Amarillo, Texas.
After Collier’s arrest Thursday, he was charged with manipulating a government document with the intent to defraud, a crime in state punishment, Barkley told the station. He was detained on a $ 10,000 bond.

The sergeant’s statement is in line with a recent Facebook account posted by a woman claiming to be a friend of the former police chief.
In the now viral report, Amarillo resident Cecily Steinmetz claims that Collier lived a ‘double / triple life’ with a wife and several fiancés – marked the City of Stinnett Facebook page.
“I was his girlfriend until yesterday. He lied to me and submitted false cancellation documents to me when I found out he was married. I also found out about a 2nd girlfriend, Kristi, last night,” she wrote. “He lied to us, our children, and asked us both to marry him. He’s a bad representative of your city. ‘
Steinmetz’s message contains a photo of what she believes was a false document for annulment of the marriage.
KAMR reported on Thursday that Judge Doug Woodburn of the 108th District Court confirmed that the annulment document was false.
Steinmetz told the station she posted her account on Facebook so that it does not happen to other women in the future.
“I would just hope he learned his lesson, not to mislead people like that,” she told KAMR.
Steinmetz’s message received tens of thousands of likes, comments, and shares.
In addition, a Facebook group called “Victims of Jason Collier” was created that gathered more than 4,000 followers.
In a 42-second video posted to the group, it appears that Collier is apologizing, although it remains unclear what he is apologizing for and for whom.
Collier, 41, was appointed chief in February 2020 after serving as a police sergeant at the Borger police station, according to KFDA-TV of Amarillo.
In the outlet, it is also reported that Collier received the Medal of Valor from the state of Texas after 21 years of experience in law enforcement and that he is married with four children, as well as an ordained minister.
Neither the Stinnett police station nor the city of Stinnett acknowledged the claims against Collier, citing confidentiality regarding personnel matters.
Downs reported on Wednesday that city officials are “aware of the current situation around police chief Jason Collier”.
“The city takes this seriously and will investigate any violations of city policy,” he wrote. “Chief Jason Collier has been placed on administrative leave while the city investigates possible violations of the city’s employment policy.”

While city officials did not specify what “violations” they were investigating regarding Collier, Colin Locke, Stinnett’s mayor, confirmed that there was a “possible violation of city policy,” according to MyHighPlains.com.
ABC7 Amarillo reported Wednesday that Stinnett police’s Facebook page had apparently been deactivated or removed.
Fox News reached out to Stinnett Police Department, Collier and Downs for comment, but received no response.
