Hundreds of thousands remain without power for a fourth consecutive day in Texas, and nearly 12 million people face water outages while cities like Austin issue boiling water notices to residents.
Steve Adler, mayor of Austin, told Alisyn Camerota, CNN, that the situation in his city is currently “severely dire”.
“We need to make sure people are not using a drop of water that they do not need to use so that we can build up our reserves and our pressure so that we can remove the warning,” Adler said. “It’s still a very difficult thing to lay on top of the community. But the message now is to focus on these next two, three days. Keep people safe, let’s save energy and water, and then we have many questions. ”
Adler said the state needs to better regulate its power system.
“We also need an explanation and understanding of how … we are not going to return here again,” Adler said.
KP George, judge of Fort Bend County, which is outside Houston, said he was sleeping in his office, but his house recovered heat last night.
‘A lot of people live inside their car and we’re seeing some carbon monoxide deaths here … and it’s a mess. It’s a mess, ‘George said.
‘We are on our own network; we are on a regional network. And I think we are paying a price for that now, ‘he added.
