Texas mask standoff round 2: Woman arrested for refusing to wear a mask at the bank that was re-arrested at Office Depot

A woman arrested last week for refusing to wear a mask at a Galveston bank was re-arrested on Wednesday morning for another mask stand at an Office Depot, a video showing shown by FOX 26.

Texas City police officers were called to the Office Depot shortly after 9 a.m. where they encountered a maskless Terry Lynn Wright, 65, and read something aloud from her phone.

An officer told her she would go to jail if she refused to leave.

“No, I’m not going. You’re breaking the law, ‘she told officers as she was handcuffed. “This is a great violation … You are taking my rights away.”

“I’m trying to teach you people about my rights,” Wright shouted as she was escorted out of the store by police.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott recalled the state’s mask mandate earlier this month, but private businesses may still need face masks and other security measures.

After they got outside the store, one of the officers apparently recognized her from the viral video last week in which she was arrested for not wearing a mask in a Bank of America.

One of the officers asks, “Are you the lady who caused trouble in Galveston these days?”

“No, I was the lady who complied with my rights the other day,” she replied.

Two warrants were for Wright’s arrest related to the earlier incident, and she was taken to Galveston County Jail on charges of criminal trespass and resistance to arrest. No additional charges were filed for the Office Depot incident.
