Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has uttered a public outcry when it came to light in 2019 that 1,000 unaccompanied migrant children reported having been sexually abused or harassed under federal supervision in his home country and elsewhere over the past four years .
After all, that report came during the Trump administration.
But now Joe Biden is president. And that’s why Abbott is scrambling to hold a press conference on Wednesday as soon as government officials receive a small number of unfounded tips of abuse and neglect among about 1,600 unaccompanied migrant children in a temporary mega-shelter in San Antonio, Bexar County. He is flanked by Texas Rangers with the Stetson hat, the facility behind him as a backdrop, as if it were a crime scene.
