Texas expands next week to qualify for vaccine for 50 and older

HOUSTON Texas health officials announced Wednesday that the requirements for vaccination of coronavirus vaccines will begin next week.

In a tweet, officials from the Department of State Health Services said that 50 and older are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine from Monday as part of the phase 1C implementation of the state.

Health officials said there are about 5 million Texans between the ages of 50 and 64 and more than a million of them have already been vaccinated.

This is in addition to the people already eligible to receive the vaccine in phases 1A and 1B, which includes frontline health workers, residents and staff in nursing homes, certain teachers and child care workers and all 16 years and older with comorbidity.
