Across the country, another 1772 cases of coronavirus were reported on Sunday, including 1,725 new cases and 47 older cases recently reported by laboratories.
The state also added 26 COVID-19 deaths, which increased its toll to 48,211.
Of the new cases, 1,516 were confirmed and 209 probable. Of the older cases, 42 were confirmed and five likely.
The case of the state is now 2,817,869 confirmed, including 2,422,139 confirmed and 395,730 probable.
There are 2,822 COVID-19 patients in Texas hospitals, including 536 in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. On Saturday, 3.38% of patients in the hospital region treating the Dallas-Fort Worth area were COVID-19 patients – below the 15% threshold the state used to define high hospitalizations.
The average positive rate of seven days across the country for molecular tests, based on the date of collection of the test sample, was 5.52% from Saturday. For antigen tests, the positivity rate for the same period was 2.48%. A molecular test, sometimes called a PCR test, is considered more accurate; an antigen test is also called a rapid test. Gov. Greg Abbott said a positive rate of more than 10% is cause for concern.
According to the state, 9,186,322 people in Texas received at least one dose of coronavirus vaccine, while 5,613,265 – 25% of the state’s population 16 and older – were completely vaccinated.
Tarrant county
Tarrant County reported one death and 145 cases on Sunday.
The youngest victim was a Fort Worth man in his 40s who had underlying health conditions.
Of the new cases, 137 have been confirmed and eight likely. That number brings the province’s case to 253,017, including 213,265 confirmed and 39,752 likely. The death toll is 3,356.
According to the province, 152 people have been admitted to hospital with the virus since Friday.
According to the state, 529,807 people in Tarrant County received at least one dose of coronavirus vaccine, while 370,293 – 22.9% of the province’s population 16 and older – were fully vaccinated.
Dallas county
Dallas County officials no longer report new coronavirus data on Sundays. Figures previously reported on Sunday will be released on Monday.
As of Saturday, the province had a total of 293,934 – 253,889 confirmed and 40,045 likely. The death toll was 3,697.
The average number of new daily cases in the province for the past two weeks is 273. For the previous period of 14 days, the average was 268.
According to state data, 800,111 people in Dallas County received at least one dose of coronavirus vaccine, while 466,614 – 23% of the province’s population 16 and older – were fully immunized.
Collin county
The state added 75 new cases to the Collin County total on Sunday. The state did not add any new deaths.
The province’s total is 87,709, including 72,651 confirmed and 15,058 probable. The death toll is 805.
According to the province, 92 people with the virus are being admitted to hospital.
According to the state, 362,133 people in Collin County received at least one dose of coronavirus vaccine, while 221,574 – 27.6% of the population aged 16 and older – were fully vaccinated.
Denton county
Denton County officials no longer report new coronavirus data on Sundays.
As of Friday, the province had a total of 72,583 COVID-19 cases, including 53,763 confirmed and 18,820 likely. The death toll stood at 476.
According to the state, 248,874 people in Denton County received at least one dose of coronavirus vaccine, while 176,592 – 25.3% of the province’s population 16 and older – were fully vaccinated.
Other provinces
The Texas Department of Public Health has taken over reporting for these other North Texas counties. In some provinces, new data is not reported every day. The latest numbers are:
- Rockwall County: 11,211 cases (9,135 confirmed and 2076 likely), 151 deaths.
- Kaufman County: 15,591 cases (13,115 confirmed and 2,476 likely), 247 deaths.
- Ellis County: 22,252 cases (18,649 confirmed and 3,603 probable), 309 deaths.
- Johnson County: 19,429 cases (16,597 confirmed and 2,832 likely), 361 deaths.
