Texans continue idiotic decisions with Josh McCown’s head coaching idea

With quarterback Deshaun Watson specifically asking the Texans to interview candidates like Robert Saleh and Eric Bieniemy, the Texans, according to Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network, are apparently considering the appointment of * check notes * Josh McCown, head coach.

Oddly enough, the Texans are not one of the nine teams McCown has played for in his extremely mediocre yet long NFL career.

I’m sure it’s going to go really well.

Personally, there are many, many layers to which I can go with my general aversion to how the Texans handle this whole situation. I’ll start with the fact that even NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo is already doing his best to turn this admittedly ‘crazy’ idea for Texans fans into a “dah gum, it’s so crazy it can just work”.

Maybe choosing a coach who is actually a coach is a better way to go while your team is going through an important transformative period. Call it a rebuild, call it a retraining, call it just what you will – the Texans are staring down a steep climb to a challenging roster, thanks to the clumsiness of Bill O’Brien.

Try me again to tell me that there is no racial problem in the NFL head coaching staff, as an outspoken backup QB inexperienced coaching is considered as the offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy who worked under one of – if not the best head coaches in the NFL in Andy Reid, has won one Super Bowl in that role and is a game away from returning to the Big Game.

If the Texans want to anoint a quarterback to be the head coach of their franchise, they just have to trade in what I can almost certainly call Deshaun Watson to Miami in exchange for Ryan Fitzpatrick, and then Fitz can step into the role of player / coach. They would save money by not having to pay a coach! Win-win!

I’m not sure how they intend to direct this one to Deshaun Watson, but personally I can not wait to find out.
