Tesla’s recently announced $ 25,000 electric car may arrive earlier than we thought, according to recently unveiled documents on Gigafactory Shanghai.

When Tesla CEO Elon Musk and the “structural battery pack” architecture made it possible on Battery Day last year, CEO Elon Musk announced that Tesla was going to make a $ 25,000 electric car.
The CEO said in the announcement:
Tesla will make a compelling $ 25,000 electric vehicle that is also fully autonomous.
He made it clear that this new price point is being reached through the new attempt to manufacture the battery and the battery.
Musk also added that the new $ 25,000 electric car will be on the market in about three years, when Tesla increased production of its new battery cell.
Tesla has not released any other specifications on the car, but Musk has previously indicated that it would have a range of more than 200 miles.
Cheaper Tesla electric car may come sooner
The new Tesla $ 25,000 is linked to the previously announced plan to launch a new electric car designed and built in China.
According to new Gigafactory Shanghai documents submitted to the government, Tesla plans to add a cheaper third model that will be manufactured at Gigafactory Shanghai as soon as 2022 (via Weibo and translated from Chinese):
According to the Tesla Gigafactory construction document exposed on the Internet, Tesla’s new domestic models will be manufactured directly in the Shanghai Gigafactory. The positioning and sales price will be lower than the Model 3, and the price of the new car is expected to remain unchanged. Between 160,000 and 200,000 RMB, mass production and delivery could already be in 2022.
Note that 160,000 Chinese yuan is exactly $ 24,755 USD, and 2022 is a little earlier than previously announced.
However, we know that the new electric vehicle has started.
Tesla began taking design submissions last summer for its tiny, tiny electric car manufactured by Chinese and shortly thereafter began renting for the program.

I would take this report with a grain of salt for now.
If true, it’s a game changer. If Tesla can produce a $ 25,000 electric car in volume by 2022, it will be very disruptive in the automotive industry.
On the other hand, they have to significantly increase the production of 4680 batteries to build the vehicle, and it can be difficult to produce the new structural battery pack production as it is a brand new way of building cars.
Personally, I think more likely in late 2023 or 2024, but I might be pleasantly surprised, especially considering how fast the Tesla Chinese team has been in the past.
