Elon Musk seems to be enjoying wasting Tesla news about Joe Rogan while being interviewed on his podcast. In his latest visit to Joe Rogan, we already reported that he discussed how he wants the Roadster to soar, and how the Cybertuck will be about 3 percent smaller.
From the very neat things they talked about, Elon talked a bit about the upcoming Tesla Semi and told us about one of the batteries:
‘You want something in the order of probably a 500 kWh pack. What we have in the Model S and X is a 100 kWh pack and probably something like a 500 kWh pack in the Tesla Semi. ”
The battery should be in the 300-mile range model currently priced at $ 150,000, according to the discussion website. As for the $ 180,000 500-mile model, we can only guess the size. But, with almost twice the driving distance, the larger battery can be between 800 and 900 kWh. As the Semi-series with longer range comes into production later, Elon might tell us the battery size when he’s next on Joe Rogan’s podcast.
The Tesla Semi battery uses the company’s new 4680 battery. We recently shared a video showing the production of 4680 batteries in Giga Berlin.
Since engineering on the Semi has already been completed, Tesla plans to manufacture the Giga Texas plant, which is still under construction, by the end of 2021. According to rumors, Tesla can produce as many as 2500 Semis this year. Chances are also high that the Semi will be Tesla’s first fully autonomous vehicle.
