Maybe the production Roadster will look more … roadster-y?
Tesla
With all the news about the Tesla Model S’s new interior (and this dumb new steering yoke), the Model X checkered, the upcoming Cybertruck and even the company’s Complete self-management software, fans of the carmaker are right: Where the hell is the Roadster? It’s been more than three years since we saw the new Tesla Roadster for the first time and, more importantly, since customers began falsifying more than $ 50,000 (!) deposits. But fear not, says Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, that the Roadster is still on its way.
Asked about Tesla’s upcoming sports car on Thursday, CEO Elon Musk tweeted that the carmaker “has finished engineering this year” and that “production will begin next year.” Musk says Tesla’s going to have [a] release candidate design drivable [by] late summer. ‘
Finishing engineering this year, production begins next year. With the aim of releasing the candidate’s design in late summer. Three-engine drive system and advanced battery work were important predecessors.

Musk first confirmed the delay of the Roadster last spring. The delay is apparently due to the development of the three-engine drive system and ‘advanced battery work’, according to Musk.
When Tesla announced the second generation Roadster in late 2017, it promised some impressive specs. The acceleration to 60 km / h will reportedly take less than 2 seconds and the car can drive 620 miles on a single charge. Of course, we take it all with a massive grain of salt, but maybe we’ll have more concrete data if and when a Roadster prototype arrives later this year.
