Tesla releases video of Model Y third row, but does not show anyone sitting in it

Tesla is starting to release the first video of the Model Y’s third row, but it does not even show someone sitting in the back seat.

Tesla Model Y option for the third row with seven seats

Last week we reported on Tesla opening commissions for the Model Y Standard Range RWD and seven-seat third-row option.

Tesla has promised a seven-seater version of the Model Y since its launch in March 2019.

It surprised many that a third row would fit in the small SUV, but Tesla said it is viable.

Model Y is in production in early 2020, but the carmaker has focused on other versions of the electric sport utility vehicle.

Tesla is now starting production of the new Model Y seven-seater option, which costs $ 3,000, and the carmaker mentions some of the features that the new interior includes:

  • Third row seat for two
  • Easy access to the third row
  • Third row USB-C charging
  • Slide second row with adjustable backrest
  • Fold second and third rows open for maximum load storage
  • Electronic folding releases in the trunk

We previously got a few glimpses of the Model Y’s third series of prototypes, but that was from more than a year ago, and Tesla has not revealed new photos until recently.

The carmaker released some photos last week, but we now get a full video.

Video of the third row of the Tesla Model Y

With the few photos released by Tesla, we could see that the carmaker has updated the third-row design since its launch in 2019.

Now, with a new video, we take a closer look at the new seven-seater option for the best-selling electric sports utility vehicle.

Tesla has not yet posted the video on its official channels, but some report that Tesla representatives are sharing the video with prospective buyers of the option (via Reddit):

It looks like it’s an official Tesla video for the car maker’s support page for the Model Y once the new version starts shipping.

While the video gives us the best drive of Model Y so far, Tesla has not shown anyone sitting in the third row as for the second row.

This is because many fans have pointed out that it looks extraordinarily small, which is hard to believe in Tesla’s original claim that it can fit “7 adults”.

Originally, Tesla’s website indicated that the seven-seater option would suit “7 adults”, but the carmaker has now updated its website to write “7 people”.

This is probably more accurate, as the third row is definitely more suitable for children, making it an excellent option for families with children.
