Tesla Model S with Yoke steering wheel hits public streets: first look

A Tesla Model S with a juxtaposition steering wheel is captured in nature and gives the public a first look at Tesla’s futuristic steeless steering column.

A deep blue metal model S with a refreshing interior, including the casing of wooden doors, the revised instrument panel display and the horizontal center touch screen, and Tesla’s long-awaited Yoke steering wheel, was spotted on Saturday in downtown Redwood City in Silicon Valley.

Photos taken by The Kilowatts show a Model S with manufacturing plates, indicating that the company may be in the final stages of public testing before the updated steering wheel design is introduced to production vehicles.

Striking on the photos of the Yoke steering wheel is the absence of a traditional shaft and Tesla’s famous dual castors. While Tesla displayed the capacitive touch features in illustrations for the Model S and Model X transmission steering wheel, markers for flashing lights and drive functions were not visible in the release candidate noted.

It appears to be a production-ready driver and passenger section of the Model S, a refined rear passenger area, clad in Tesla’s famous Vegan white interior and accentuated by the company’s latest rear touchscreen.

In the photos shared by The Kilowatts, the button for folding up the Model S-split rear seats can also be seen, along with a more prominent side-repeater camera.

Earlier this year, Tesla unveiled new images of the 2021 Refreshed Model S and Model X after months of speculation that the company would update the aging interior design of its flagship vehicles.
