A well-known techie shared a block diagram depicting details of the Model S and Model X Refresh’s GPU system / infotainment system in the car. Based on the information presented in the leak, it appears that Tesla’s in-car gaming system will indeed be on par with some of the most popular consoles in the market.
Patrick Schur, who gained notoriety for leaking information about future technologies, shared the image on his Twitter page. According to the leaked block diagram, Tesla will reportedly use an AMD Navi 23 GPU for its onboard infotainment system, which will be equipped with 16 Gb (2 GB) Samsung GDDR6 memory chips (K4ZAF325XM). Since there are four modules in the leaked diagram, it appears that Tesla’s information system has a total of 8 GB of memory.

It should be noted that the memory is 14 Gbps and is connected to a 128-bit memory bus, which should provide a maximum bandwidth of 224 GB / s, similar to the Xbox Series S. The diagram also shows that the system DisplayPort and HDMI 1.4 connections together with PCIe Gen4 x8 (8Gb / s), which are connected to on-board monitors and a board-to-board (B2B) connection.
Tesla’s official Web pages for the Model S and Model X refreshes note that the vehicle’s gaming system offers up to 10 teraflops of processing power, comparable to those offered by dedicated gaming consoles such as the Sony PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X. As noted in a videocardz.com report, Tesla would have to employ 32 computer units of Navi 23 GPU (2048 power processors) clocked at at least 2.44 GHz to achieve such FP32 computing power.
Quite interestingly, rumors that Tesla has been using the AMD Navi 23 GPU for its next generation infotainment system have been around for some time. Last November, Schur noted on Twitter that the EV manufacturer wants to use the AMD Navi 23 for the information systems of its vehicles. The leaker said in a later tweet that AMD and Tesla were not too happy about the information he posted.
Overall, it seems that Elon Musk did not make a joke when he remarked that Teslas would be able to play top games like Cyberpunk. Ten achievements and an AMD Navi 23 GPU may seem too much for an in-car gaming and infotainment system, but it does provide Tesla’s electric vehicles enough computing power to run high-quality games. Some of these have been hinted at recently, such as Witcher III, which appears on page S of the Model S and Model X, and Cyberpunk, which Elon Musk personally mentioned on Twitter.
