Tesla has launched a new social platform on its website aimed at attracting owners and fans of the brand “[t]acts on behalf of Tesla and the Clean Energy Movement. The new micro-website – called the “Tesla Engagement Platform” – already contains information on how Nebraska residents can help reduce the company’s pressure on direct sales and service in the state, future ownership events and fundraising for disaster relief in Texas. to allow winter to storm.
“Engage Tesla is a new platform for both Tesla’s public policy team and Tesla Owners’ Clubs,” reads the first report on the new microsite. “Its purpose is to create a digital home base for all of our work, and to make it easier for Tesla community members to learn what’s important to us, to act meaningfully, and to stay informed.”
At the same time, Tersla also includes the section for years-long forums on its website. Although there are now many Tesla-related forums on the Internet, Tesla’s own message board was one of the first places where owners and interested buyers could gather the good and bad things about the company’s products. It was also not moderated, leading to ongoing problems with spam and trolls.
Tesla’s message boards have served that purpose to this day, but a notice above appears to users telling them that the forums will be read-only from March 15. “To continue the conversation with the Tesla community,” reads the notice, “visit engag.tesla.com.”
The Tesla engagement platform appears to be an attempt to further leverage the powerful enthusiasm of the company’s supporters by centralizing some of the work they have already done on their own. The Tesla Owners Club in Silicon Valley, for example, has already raised $ 10,000 to support the Del Valle, Texas community, which surrounds the area in which the company’s new factory is being built. And Tesla owners have long been pushing their governments to adopt green energy policies.
But there has never been such a direct feedback loop with the company’s policy team as promised with the new microsite. The new website also makes it easy for people to apply for membership at local owner clubs and to see upcoming events. It also follows Tesla’s recent efforts to bring hard fans even deeper into the herd, such as when the company began taking questions from retail shareholders about its earnings calls.
As it is a ‘platform for engagement’, there is also a commenting system that a number of users have already used to share their ideas for improvements. Some want a better line to the company’s customer service department. But one of the most common suggestions so far is to preserve the old forums, or at least replace the message board with something similar – but moderated – on the new site.
‘Please do not get rid of the Forums. This is not a replacement. The forums (with the exception of the trolls on it) have brought about informed discussions to help co-owners with problems, ”wrote one user.
Meanwhile, users on the official (and now officially doomed) Tesla forums are sharing their thoughts on the sudden decision in this thread.
‘Welcome to the end of the line. You have exactly 13 more days to post threads and comments, ”reads the initial report.
“This linking site seems very limited and cannot provide a sufficient replacement,” wrote one user. ‘Where are you going to visit? Feels like a few years ago when my golf club collapsed. Scramble to find a new home. ‘
