Tesla is liquidating Model S and Model X stock at the end of the month as refreshments close

Tesla has informed employees to liquidate Model S and Model X inventory by the end of the month, as a significant refresh now seems likely.

Model S and Model X Inventory

Electrek learns from sources familiar with the matter that Tesla has instructed employees to sell all Model S and Model X stock in stores in all markets.

Tesla intends to have absolutely no Model S or Model X in stock by the end of the month.

This should be feasible, as Tesla has not produced new Model S and Model X vehicles in almost a month due to the production stoppage of the line for its flagship electric sedan and SUV.

The move is unusual at the start of a new term, and it reinforces rumors of a design refresh.

Tesla Model S / X Design Refresh

Over the past few months, we’ve been reporting extensively on rumors of a possible renewal of Model S and Model X has been on the rise recently – especially as Tesla has announced that the Model S Plaid will require several major changes.

In December, we also reported that Tesla significantly increased the delivery timeline and price of Model S and Model X in March.

Furthermore, we were told that Tesla had extended the closing of the Model S / X production holiday until early January, and some believed that the car manufacturer was updating the production line to produce a new version of the electric sedan.

As we reported earlier, Tesla has a ‘secret project Palladium’, which last year worked, among other things, on new production lines for Model S and Model X.

Back in 2018, we reported that Tesla was undergoing a significant overhaul of the interior design for Model S and Model X planned at the time for the summer of 2019.

This refresh has been delayed because Tesla has focused all its resources on building Model 3 production, but now many people think that maybe it’s time for Tesla to finally update the Model S design, and maybe the Model X, at the same time.

At the time, the planned update included a new horizontal center display, a smaller instrument cluster and a focus on higher materials in the vehicles.
