Tesla begins advertising Model 3 with a distance of 93 kilometers on its website in Canada

Tesla is now starting to advertise the Model 3 with a distance of 93 kilometers, aimed at giving buyers access to local EV incentives, on its website in Canada.

Previously, this version of the Model 3 was hidden.

In 2019, the Federal Government of Canada launched a new $ 5,000 incentive to purchase new electric vehicles with base prices of less than $ 45,000 that cost no more than $ 55,000 after options.

This disqualified Tesla’s vehicles from qualifying, as base model 3 started at more than $ 45,000.

In order to qualify for the Model 3, Tesla created a new version of the Model 3 for $ 44,999 in Canada, but it also reached the battery pack of up to 150 km (93 miles) and removed Autopilot.

In addition, Tesla did not even list the model on its website, but only offered it as an “off-the-menu” item, meaning customers had to know it and ask for it in person or by phone.

But it’s not like anyone wants it anyway.

150 km range is extremely short and it does not make sense when compared to the Standard Range Plus, which reaches 273 kilometers further and Autopilot, which sells for only $ 4,000.

Registration statistics in Canada showed that only a few people made the compromise.

Maybe more people will do it because Tesla has surprisingly started showing the version of the vehicle on its website:

Instead of naming the vehicle as the “Standard Range” and “Standard Range Plus”, Tesla only mentions it as “Standard Range”, and you can mark a box to limit the range to 151 km (93 miles) .

It is not clear why Tesla decided to add the version of the Model 3 to its website instead of hiding it, but the government may have been forced to make the change.

With the finish of less than $ 45,000 CAD before delivery fees, buyers can also get the $ 5,000 discount on the regular Model 3 Standard Range, which costs less than $ 55,000 (the limit) before incentive. This is the most popular option among Canadian buyers.
