Terraria dev says the launch of Stadia will now proceed to the solution of splash with Google • Eurogamer.net

Name ‘hard work the Stadia team did’.

Earlier this month, after a very public conversation with Google, Terraria studio Re-Logic announced that the development of the game’s Stadia version would be halted. However, it is now being decided to reverse the decision and the development will continue.

Events came to a head earlier this month when Re-Logic founder Andrew Spinks boasted about Twitter after his account was shut down for three weeks without explaining it. It has access to its Google Play library, Google Drive data, YouTube channel and Gmail.

“I have done absolutely nothing to violate your Terms of Service, so I can only do so unless you decide to burn this bridge,” he wrote. “Consider it burned. Terraria for Google Stadiums is being canceled. My company no longer supports any of your platforms to move forward.”

However, in a new update posted on the Terraria forum, Re-Logic announced that the Stadia version will continue nonetheless. “As you may have noticed, we’ve had a lot of issues starting the year due to the termination of Redigit’s entire Google Account in early January,” it said. “After a month of pressure (and with the tremendous support of our fans), Google finally reached out and was able to provide a lot of transparency about the situation and restore access to all of our accounts.”

“Due to the hard work that the Stadia team has done – as well as our partners at 505 Games – we have decided that we will allow the upcoming Terraria launch on Google Stadia to continue,” the statement continued. “The Terraria Stadia building is based on the DR Studios 1.4.0.5 (latest) build, and is currently with Google for certification review.”

There is no word on when Terraria can be launched for Stadiums, but it is encouraging to see the problem resolved relatively quickly. Stadiums, of course, have recently stopped all internal game development, which means that it is now absolutely essential to enter into relationships with external studios.
