Following the controversy over the new WhatsApp privacy policy, several users around the world have been looking for an alternative to the app owned by Facebook. Telegram, already one of the most popular messaging platforms, is now working on a new tool that allows users to enter conversations from WhatsApp and other applications.
The new feature was released today in the iOS App Store as part of version 7.4 of the app, but another update was released moments later, after which the notifications about the migration tool were removed – indicating that Telegram is still adding this feature work before a public announcement. .
But, 9to5Mac could try out the new migration tool in the official Telegram iOS app to see how it works. According to the original version of update 7.4, users can import chats from WhatsApp, Line, KakaoTalk and other unspecified applications.
Using WhatsApp as an example, it does not take much effort to migrate conversations from one app to another. Once in WhatsApp, you need to enter the “More” menu in a chat and then select the “Export chat” option. WhatsApp will generate a ZIP file with the entire conversation that can be exported to the iOS sub-page to Telegram.
Telegram will ask which contact or group you want to link the chat to, and then the messages there will be synchronized for you as well as the other person. All imported messages are marked as such.
Although some users can still import chats from other apps in the latest version of the Telegram app in the App Store, Telegram has not confirmed that the feature works for all users. Yet it seems a matter of time before the new option is officially announced.
